Share
Tattoo financing at Tagz Tattoo in Mesa runs through Shop Pay Installments, our Get Tatted Now, Pay Later option. You check what you qualify for, see the payment schedule and any interest before you agree, and pay every two weeks or monthly. Shopify says there are no late fees beyond interest.

A bigger tattoo is easier to say yes to when the cost is split up. Tagz Tattoo in Mesa does that through Shop Pay, and our tattoo financing page walks through the setup. This post covers the plan itself, using what Shopify publishes about how Shop Pay Installments works.
Who runs the payment plan?
The plan is Shop Pay Installments, and the payments are collected by Affirm. Shopify's help pages for store owners say Affirm is responsible for collecting the installments from customers. So the split happens on the product page, not through a lender in the shop. You check out with Shop Pay on the project you want to book.
How often do you pay, and is there interest?
After the first payment, charges repeat every two weeks or monthly, depending on the option you pick. Shopify's help center says you can't customize the schedule, and reminders go out by email and text before each charge. The store-owner FAQ also says the monthly option takes a debit card only.
Interest depends on the option. Shopify says rates from 0 to 36 percent APR might apply, with no additional charges or late fees beyond that. The Check Your Purchasing Power tool shows example schedules and the interest up front.

Does checking what you qualify for affect your credit?
Checking is a soft credit pull. It does not affect your credit score, and it tells you how much you qualify for. Shopify's Shop help center agrees there is no credit impact when you apply, but it also says your loan and payment information might be shared with credit reporting agencies. Once you set up a plan, it is a real loan.
How big can a financed tattoo be?
For US orders, Shopify lists a range of $35 to $30,000, counting taxes and shipping. Approval isn't guaranteed, and the amount you get comes from the check on your own project.
Do you still owe a deposit if you finance?
On our financing page, the answer is no. Once you and your artist have talked through the dates, you check out with the Shop Pay option on the project you want, set up the plan, and we schedule you. There is no separate deposit on top. Shopify's help pages do note that a down payment can be required on some orders, depending on the store, the amount and the plan, so read the checkout screen and ask us if anything looks different from what you expected.
How do you set it up before your appointment?
| Step | What you do |
|---|---|
| 1 | Pick your artist on the artists page and read what they charge. |
| 2 | Pick the project size and area closest to your idea on the pricing page. |
| 3 | Fill out the artist's inquiry form so they can confirm the idea fits the project and send you open dates. |
| 4 | Go back to the product link that matches the work. |
| 5 | Click Check Your Purchasing Power to see the amount, example schedules and interest. |
| 6 | Review what you qualify for and set up the plan that suits you. |
Do it before the appointment. A free consultation is the easiest place to start.
Which tattoos does financing suit?
It works on any size of project, though we usually point people to it for multi-day sessions and sleeve tattoos. Larger cover-up tattoos can use it too. For a plainer version of all this, our earlier post on whether you can finance a tattoo covers it, and the guide to how deposits and pricing work explains how a quote gets built.
