Queen Creek people looking for a walk-in tattoo end up in Mesa, and Tagz Tattoo is where a lot of them land. We are at 2735 E Main St, Suite 9, straight up into the city that borders Queen Creek on its north side, open every day from noon, and we take walk-ins whenever a chair is free.

Walking in from Queen Creek

Mesa is the city directly north of Queen Creek, so this is a short drive rather than a trip across the valley. Come north into Mesa and get onto Main. We are on East Main between Lindsay Road and Val Vista Drive, the door faces the street and parking is out front.

If you are used to taking the Gateway Freeway, that is State Route 24. It runs about five and a half miles from Loop 202 at Hawes Road in Mesa out to Ironwood Drive on the Apache Junction and Queen Creek line, with an interchange at Ellsworth Road along the way. Plenty of Queen Creek drivers already use it to get into the middle of Mesa.

Nobody at this shop thinks a Queen Creek drive is long. A 2025 Google review from Jose Escandon reads, "Drove 2.5 hours to get tatted and 100% will do it again!"

On a walk-in, calling ahead is still the smart move. Not because we turn people away, but because the roster changes month to month and you want to know who is in before you get in the car.

How a walk-in actually goes here

1. You show up with the idea. A reference on your phone is enough. So is a rough description. You do not need a finished drawing.
2. You get a number before anything starts. The artist looks at the size, the placement and the detail and quotes it on the spot. The shop minimum is $150, and that exists because a station gets set up and broken down for a twenty-minute piece exactly the same as for a five-hour one.
3. Stencil and placement. You check it in the mirror and move it until it sits right. Nothing goes in until you are happy with where it lands.
4. Small to medium work gets finished that day. A sleeve, a chest panel or a cover-up does not. Those get booked out and planned across sittings, and that conversation is a free consultation rather than a walk-in.

What Queen Creek looks like from behind the chair

Queen Creek is filling up fast. The 2020 census put it at 59,519 people, up 125.8% over the decade before, and the 2025 estimate is 87,006. That is a town filling up with people who moved in recently and have not settled on a shop yet.

It has only been a town since September 5, 1989, and before that it was farmland. C. H. Rittenhouse formed the Queen Creek Farms Company in 1919 and built a railroad stop to ship produce out, which is where the place came from. The old Rittenhouse Elementary School from 1925 is still standing and houses the San Tan Historical Society now.

The San Tan Mountain Regional Park, 10,200 acres of it, sits south of town. Desert and mountain imagery comes up a lot in what people bring in, and high-contrast black and grey handles that kind of reference well.

Queen Creek gets to 100°F or hotter on 103 days a year, and eleven of those days hit 110 or more. That is the number that matters for a fresh tattoo, not the postcard weather.

Sun on healing skin fades a piece before it has finished healing. Pool water is worse. If you work outdoors or your summer runs through the water, either book the piece for the cooler months or plan on changing the wrap more often and staying covered. It is not complicated, it just gets ignored.

Who does the work

AG owns the shop. He built the crew and his own lane is high-contrast black and grey realism, mostly sleeves and chest pieces. Large-scale work goes through his own calendar rather than the general book, so ask for that specifically.

Past that, the honest answer is that the lineup moves month to month, so call and ask who is booking your style. A list on a webpage goes stale and then somebody drives up for an artist who is not in.

The shop is big, several rooms, and one of them we call The Big Room. For a back or a full leg that is the difference between stretching out and working folded into a corner.

Money

There is no price list on the wall, and that is deliberate. Every piece is custom, so every piece gets quoted after somebody has seen what you actually want.

The anchors we can give you up front: $150 shop minimum, hourly work starting around $125, and large cover-ups starting at $1,400.

Deposits run $100 to $1,000 depending on how much of an artist's day you are booking. They are non-refundable and non-transferable, and the deposit comes off the total rather than sitting on top of it. When you book a block of somebody's day, that time is off the market and the drawing is already done, which is the whole reason the deposit works the way it does.

For a bigger project there is Get Tatted NOW Pay LATER. Soft credit pull, so finding out whether you qualify costs you nothing on your score.

You pay nothing at the consultation. That is true in the shop, on the phone and over FaceTime.
